Toughersations

Toughersations Cards are designed to keep the conversation, empathy, and understanding flowing.

Ren Newman is the creator of Toughersations, a line of greeting cards designed to assist LGBTQIA+ folx in the process of coming out to family, friends, and all the folx they love. She wanted to curate tools for people to communicate, process, and support one another in what they're going through and who they are. The idea for Toughersations came one night when she was was lying in bed about to fall asleep and thought: "There has to be an easier way to break down polarizing topics and have a tough conversation. One where no one responds in haste, but by supportive listening. Even if it seems like there's no middle ground." That sleepytime thought led to what she hopes will spark a change in how we communicate our ideas and pave the way for safe spaces. It is easier to process things with time rather than with an instantaneous text or email.
