33 Books Co. is Dave Selden's one-man publishing operation based in Portland, Oregon. He produces books and "tasting maps" that are designed to let people quickly take down the important details of their favorite consumables: beer, coffee, wine or whisk(e)y and lots of other good things.
It all started as a direct result of homebrewing. In 2006 or so, Dave was working in marketing at a technology company, and got curious about a blog software platform called Wordpress. To kick the tires, he set up a fake blog for his homebrewing collective. He started writing about their beer and brewing adventures. With its memory-erasing side effects, beer can be difficult to remember the next day, so he made a little tool to help him take quick tasting notes, a project which became 33 Beers, his first tasting notebook.
