Natural Fibers + Dyes by Cindy Houston

Cindy Houston is inspired by the natural world, hypnotized by the vastness of the sea, lulled into calm by the woods. Her work derives from this world and ultimately returns, as nature and time have their way with things. The fabric she creates her designs from, and the dyes used to pattern them, are all natural - cotton, silk, plant leaves and dyes. This synthesis of botany and textiles produces truly one-of-a-kind creations, with each bundle of cloth and composed leaves and found objects producing only a single impression. All garments are dyes and sewn by Cindy in her studio in Bowling Green, Kentucky, using dyestuffs from her garden and small farms throughout the eastern United States.
