Railroad Spike Bottle Opener

1 item left

This bottle opener is crafted from old, authentic salvaged steel rail spikes representative of those used throughout North American rail systems. While not a spike from a specific rail system, this bottle opener celebrates American resourcefulness.

May 10, 2019 marks the 150th Anniversary of the First Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Point in Utah. On May 10, 1869 Leland Stanford drove in the ceremonial “Golden Spike” to launch the connection of existing East & West Coast systems.  The coast-to-coast railroad connection fostered settlement of the West and facilitated the growth of early trade which became considerably quicker and less expensive.

Each spike is carefully cleaned & cut, and then bottle opener hardware attached.  As each is unique, item may vary slightly from image. Tokens & Icons gift box and certificate of authenticity included.
