Heart of the Home was founded by Phyllis and Catalina Castells in 1994. Over the years, things have changed, but our collaboration has remained solid and core to the business. Today, we're working together to support the artisans we love and bring the best in American craft directly to your home.
For over 30 years, we've been helping our customers find the perfect gifts. With the change in the economy have come many costs which unfortunately will show as increases in some prices. These are because of both increasing prices of metals like gold, silver and bronze, as well as tariffs on many imported items.
But wait, I hear you say, don't you mostly sell things that are made in America? Why, yes, we do, but those things are sometimes made with materials or components that are not produced in this country or are more expensive if they are. Thus, many of our wonderful craftspeople are forced to increase prices to survive.
Think of it like an omelet: If you made an omelet at the old average price of a dozen eggs (on average $0.98 in 2000), a three egg omelet would cost about a quarter in eggs. As of March of 2025, those three eggs will run you $1.50! So the bronze in a Michael Michaud necklace has also increased because the cost of bronze has skyrocketed.
We're all doing our best in this economy, and here at Heart of the Home, we are committed to trying to maintain pricing for as long as our artists are able to do so.
We're happy to help you select the perfect item. Reach out with any questions you have.
