We are back from our break and excited to see you! Come visit!
Jeffrey Kleckner was an esteemed member of our roster of potters for many years. He left us all suddenly in August of 2020 and the ceramic world is the poorer for his passing. Many other potters knew and valued his unique and demanding vision. His techniques were time consuming and often entirely of his own creation. He was the kind of person one is drawn to talk more with every time that you would see him. We had the joy of seeing Jeff just about a month before his passing, when he hand delivered some of his pieces to the store. We will really miss him. For more information on Jeffrey's legacy, you can contact Jennifer Zwilling at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Jeffrey Kleckner's work is wheel thrown with porcelain or white stoneware clay and reduction fired. Shapes are altered when wet and sometimes assembled from thrown parts. Slips, oxides, glazes, and resists are applied in a manner that reflects his passion for pattern. Dot, stripe, faceted and quilted motifs work in combination or stand alone in compositions evoking the ceramics traditions of many cultures and eras. He has taught ceramics at the Appalachian Center for the Crafts (TN), the Baum School of Art (PA), Kutztown University (PA), and Northampton Community College (PA). Originally from Allentown Pennsylvania, Jeff has maintained a studio in Bethlehem PA since 1988.
