Bluebird Ceramic Ornament

"Bluebirds are a traditional symbol of happiness; that exhilarating flash of blue is one of the earliest signs of spring. Loss of habitat & competition with other birds has caused a decline in certain areas, but they are beginning to make a comeback."

At Wayne Village Pottery, that lovely stuff known as Maine “blue” clay is dug out of their back field. The early redware potters also used this kind of clay, and they enjoy following the tradition of creating handmade pottery which is useful, affordable and decorative.  They started making ornaments and sculptures for their Holiday Open House. The ornaments consist of an array of local birds, beasts and critters; the inspiration for each ornament typically comes from some sort of encounter they have had during the year.
